Job Description

Supervises the fitness center, faculty, staff and students users during open gym hours. Provide students, faculty, and staff instructions on how to use equipment properly and safely. Clean, organize fitness center facilities including equipment maintenance. Verify faculty, staff and students have appropriate ID during open gym hours. Inventory cleaning supplies and report all accidents. Open and lock up center during the appropriate gym hours. Work collaboratively to support needs of credit courses, campus wellness outreach, and student activities. Utilize high levels of energy, creativity, and motivation to foster learning. Interview, recommend for hire, train and supervise work study students. Approve work study student’s time sheets. Monitor work study students during open gym times.

Minimum Qualifications

Associates Degree or equivalent experience in Physical Education, fitness or health/wellness related field. CPR and First Aid Certification. Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to work within a team setting with limited supervision. Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff and students in a diverse educational environment. Ability to prioritize and problem solve in a high-paced environment. Commitment to supporting health behavior change for students and employees and the community college philosophy. Must be available to work flexible schedule during days and evenings. Occasional weekends may be required for special events. Must be able to work at all campus locations. Criminal history and other background checks will be required of the finalist candidate for the position. Satisfactory reference and background checks are a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Physical Education, fitness, or health/wellness related field. Knowledge of fitness equipment and operation of fitness facility. Previous experience working with students or employees to support health behavior change.

Special Requirements

Various hours (20 – 29): Monday – Friday (8:00 am- 9:00pm). Occasional weekends.

Not to exceed 29 hours per week.
