Job Description

Will serve as community college career/academic advisor for high school students in general and those enrolled in secondary to postsecondary transitional programs. Position will relate career information to postsecondary education and training, help students develop individualized educational career plans, and provide 2/4-year college transfer information and other career options.

Minimum Qualifications

Must work effectively with high school faculty, guidance counselors, and transitional program coordinators. Will assist students and their parents in preparing financial aid applications and community college admissions materials. Requires skilled use of personal computers to input data, produce reports, manage records, and track participants; outstanding written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to develop positive working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, business and industry, the general public and education institutions; and experience working in an advisory or counseling capacity.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Education, Training or a related field (Master’s highly desirable); experience as a career coach in addition to administrative experience with the financial aid process and student information systems such as PeopleSoft; working knowledge of academic requirements for high school, community colleges, work force and career opportunities.

Special Requirements

Approximately 22 hours/week during the school year from August – June. No Benefits. $22.00 – $25.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience. Applications will ONLY be accepted on-line.
