Job Description

Serve as a community college career/academic advisor for high school students in general and those enrolled in secondary to postsecondary transitional programs. Position may work in Waynesboro and/or Augusta County, and is part of the Rural Virginia Horseshoe Initiative. Will provide high school students with 2/4-year college transfer information and other career options such as military and other post high school options (including career & technical schools); will help develop individualized educational career plans. Will assist students and parents in preparing financial aid applications and community college admissions materials.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires outstanding written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of constituencies in response to internal and external needs; demonstrated commitment to service students; cultural competency, flexibility and the ability to work in a fast-based work environment. Requires at least one year of Career Coach experience, or related equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer at least 4-year degree in Counseling, Education, Training or related. Prefer administrative experience with financial aid process and student information systems such as PeopleSoft.

Special Requirements

Full-time, 11-month/24-pay position. 40 hours per week during 11 months. Full state benefits package. Hiring Range, $40,000 – $46,000. Position will start in August 2018. Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.
