Job Description

Part-time arrangement that provides scheduling relief to full-time nursing staff. Flexible staffing arrangement for nurses seeking additional hours – premium wage after training period. Provides health care, treatments and related services for those offenders incarcerated in an adult institution. Conducts screening of offenders with health complaints, prepares and administers prescribed medications, initiates emergency interventions, first aid measures, and assists physician.

This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12 month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited licensed practical school of nursing. Current Virginia license or eligibility for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia (or other states participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact). Possesses current CPR Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer experience working in a Corrections or Law enforcement environment. Prefer experience working with mental health patients. Prefer availability to work evenings and weekends.

Special Requirements
