Job Description

Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) is a comprehensive two-year college of the Virginia Community College System, serving the City of Martinsville and the counties of Henry and Patrick. PHCC serves approximately 3,500 credit and almost 2,700 non-credit students annually and, consistently ranks among the top ten “Most Tech-Savvy” community colleges in the country by the Center for Digital Education. It is one of the nation’s 82 “Achieving the Dream” Leader Colleges. The college offers transfer programs, in addition to career-track and certification programs, and serves more than 200 employers through workforce development. It is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Position Summary:
Patrick Henry Community College is seeking Workforce Credentials Support Specialist.

Duties:

• Applies knowledge of specialized program areas to include Certified Production Technician, Certified Logistics Technician, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Nurse Aide, Registered Medication Aide, Certified Billing and Coding Specialist, and Certified Phlebotomy Technician.
• Establishes partnerships with testing centers and credentialing organizations.
• Researches possible credential assessments to test on-site at PHCC.
• Improves access to testing facilities through establishment of campus testing centers or provision of support services such as transportation or childcare.
• Assists with the scheduling, preparation, proctoring, and record-keeping of assessment programs including the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council, and National Healthcareer Association.
• Reports credential attainment to the Workforce, Economic and Community Development team and provides documentation.
• Supports Career Center staff and employers with job posting and placement for credential programs.
• Coordinates with employers, students, and Career Center staff for clinical placements and experiential learning programs.
• Follows-up with students who have not passed a credentialing assessment to ensure remediation and retest.
• Designs and implements presentations to the public; students; parents; schools; civic and professional organizations; businesses; to discuss career opportunities, to assess interests and aptitudes, and promote Workforce Credential Grant programs.
• Interprets and applies policies and procedures according to PHCC and VCCS guidelines.
• Demonstrates the ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Other needs as required by the supervisor.

This position is funded through a grant and is contingent upon renewal of funding June 30, 2018.

Hiring Range: $15.00, this is a 29-hour per week hourly wage position with no health benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

Education, training, and/or work experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree that demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

KSA’s and/or Competencies required to successfully perform the work
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, especially Word and Excel.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
• Outstanding attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

Education, training, and/or work experience equivalent to an Bachelor’s degree that demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

• Experience working within a post-secondary educational environment.
• Experience with online assessment administration.
• Experience with PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS) and/or Workforce Enterprise System (WES).
