Job Description

Full-time position available for an experienced human services counselor/worker to coordinate and implement the activities and services of a diversion program for juveniles who have committed misdemeanor or status offenses for the Fifth District Juvenile Court, Position is based in Suffolk but includes travel to Isle of Wight, Franklin and Southampton. Duties include providing direct services to juveniles and their families to include conducting intake meetings, overseeing Juvenile Conference Committee hearings, facilitating individual and group sessions, maintaining juvenile files, coordinating community service, collaborating with the Court Service Unit, and recruiting, training and supervising volunteers. Primary hours are 8:30am-5:00pm but does requires some evening hours. The Commission reimburses for mileage incurred at 54.5¢ per mile and compensates counselors for travel time. Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field from an accredited institution with at least 1 year paid professional experience working with at-risk youth and/or providing human services counseling.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in recruiting, training and supervising volunteers preferred.
