Job Description

Virginia Western, located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Roanoke Valley, is accepting applications for part-time, adjunct faculty to assist with Kids College Camps during the summer months, as part of our VWCC Kids College offerings.

Kids College adjunct faculty are appointed to lead or assist with an individual camp during the summer term as needed.

Responsibilities include:
• Assist with student sign-in and sign-out each day of camp.
• Assist with development and delivery of program content.
• Assist with development and facilitation of experiential learning activities embedded in curricula.
• Monitor student behavior and safety. Communicate any issue with parents and program coordinator.
• Maintain a safe learning environment at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess expert skills, knowledge, experience and education in the subject area and a history of successful teaching or related experience. All Kids College Camp Adjunct Faculty positions require excellent interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.

Must be available to work during anticipated camp hours. Background checks are required as a condition of employment.

Depending upon the specific camp, positions may require STEM Related education, certification and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching or teaching assistant experience in an elementary, middle, or high school classroom environment. Must enjoy working with youth. Past summer camp experience working with children and youth.

Special Requirements

Selected applicant will be subject to criminal history, driving, and credit background checks as a condition of employment.
