Job Description
Serves as a lead worker in a unit of trainee disability analysts by assisting the unit supervisor, providing programmatic guidance of casework assistance to trainees who are learning to process claims according to Social Security regulations, performing special tasks assigned by the unit supervisor and maintaining a caseload. Consults with individual unit members regarding casework and advises appropriate actions to be taken on the claims in accordance with applicable policies. Provides direction and training to unit staff. Accurately adjudicates assigned caseload of disability claims filed under Title II, Title XVI, and Title XIX of the Social Security Act, as amended. May represent the Agency as a participant in Medicaid Appeal Hearings.
Minimum Qualifications
Successful applicants should possess considerable knowledge of 
  • Techniques for gathering, reviewing, and analyzing medical, vocational, and functional information, arriving at well-supported decisions or conclusions following established policies and procedures in accordance with Title II, Title XVI, and Title XIX of the Social Security Act.
 
Demonstrated ability to:

  • Independently research and accurately interpret and apply complex policies and procedures 
  • Multi-task and meet multiple established deadlines
  • Organize and manage a caseload requiring that actions taken are timely, accurate, and cost effective
  • Sustain a high level of productivity
  • Prepare written analyses of medical, vocational, and other relevant information to reach logical and supported conclusions
Preferred Qualifications
An undergraduate degree in a human service or medically related discipline or closely related field preferred.

Special Requirements
