Job Description

Norfolk State University’s Department of English and Foreign Languages, seeks English Adjunct faculty for the August 2016 academic year.

Selected incumbent’s duties and responsibilities include teaching English composition at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate is expected to hold office hours and attend departmental meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Selected candidate will possess a Masters or Arts degree in English, or Masters of Arts degree in similar discipline, with 18 graduate credits in English.
2. Possesses considerable knowledge of and skill in areas of specialization in a discipline, as highlighted above.
3. Demonstrated ability to communicate to a diverse student-body audience, both verbally and in writing, with emphasis applied to a commitment to diversity.
4. Demonstrated ability to grasp and advocate an institutions teaching and learning philosophy, preferably in an institution of higher education.
5. Proficiency in and commitment to distance learning via online modalities.
6. Teaching experience, at a college or university, strongly preferred.
