Job Description

The Virginia Department of Fire Programs (VDFP) is seeking part-time adjunct instructors to provide high quality fire service training in accordance with agency, state, federal and National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) regulations and as assigned by VDFP.
The purpose of this position includes assisting with the implementation of course curriculum and lesson plans. Provide course registration and administration; assisting with and providing computer-aid, instruction and testing. Setting up classrooms, field, and practical skills training. Assisting with the reproduction and distribution of course materials; supervision of the daily operations of a large training program and practical skills training that support student learning. This work should be developed in a broad range programmatic manner to meet the needs of a diverse student population.

The Virginia Department of Fire Programs serves the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia by enhancing public safety through supplemental funding, training to first responders, fire prevention and life safety education along with statewide fire code enforcement.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to work independently within clearly defined guidelines and procedures.
Ability to lead students in the delivery of in-class and practical skills training.
Responsible for effective management of the classroom and live training environments and student behavior.
Ability to effectively deliver VDFP course/training materials in accordance with VDFP policies and procedures.
Knowledge of curriculum development as related to the delivery of fire service courses.
