Job Description

The Department of Technology (Architecture Drafting) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Architecture Drafting Technology. The Architectural Technology curriculum is designed to provide students with a technical education that will prepare them to work as semi-professionals immediately upon completion of the program. Graduates may fill such typical positions as architectural draftsman, mechanical draftsman, civil draftsman, technical representative, technical salesperson, or CAD operator.

Incumbent’s duties and responsibilities shall encompass teaching courses in the areas of construction, problem analysis and planning, organization and supervision of construction, cost estimates, structural planning and design, construction management, architectural drafting, AutoCad, building codes and specifications, and engineering mechanics; holding office hours and attending departmental meetings; perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Dean; advise students; participate in recruitment activities; participate in ongoing assessment; perform scholarly activities and submit proposals for external funding to support research and development projects.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Must possess a Ph.D. in Architecture Engineering, construction management, civil engineering or closely related discipline.
2. Prior teaching experience, with preference given to candidates whose experience encompasses teaching in one or more of the following disciplines: Architecture, or Architecture drafting.
3. Skilled in the use of assessment and instructionally based technology when delivering teaching concepts and principles.
4. Demonstrated ability to communicate to a diverse student-body audience, both verbally and in writing, with emphasis applied to a commitment to diversity.
5. Must be able to start period of instruction August 2017
