Job Description

The School of Business at Norfolk State University, seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Management Information Systems, beginning, August 2017.
The School of Business, accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), which symbolizes the hallmark of excellence in business education, is comprised of three academic departments: (1) Accountancy, Finance, and Management Information Systems; (2) Management, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship, and; (3) Tourism and Hospitality Management. The successful candidate will:

1. Teach classes and advise students in the Management Information Systems Department.

2. Conduct research and other scholarly activities related to Management Information Systems.

3. Be responsible for providing service, as applicable to the university, profession, and community.

4. Support the School’s commitment to maintain the AACSB International accreditation.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Selected candidate will possess an earned Doctorate in Management Information Systems or Business Administration with a major in Management Information Systems from an AACSB International accredited institution.

2. Must be a Scholarly Academic (SA) in accordance with NSU’s AACSB International accreditation (i.e. an applicant who received his/her Ph.D. degree in 2012 or earlier must have either (a) at least three referred journal articles, or (b) at least two referred journal articles and three other intellectual contributions in the most recent five years. The requirement does not apply to those who received their Ph.D. degree after 2012.

3. Demonstrated ability to communicate to a diverse student body audience, verbally and in writing,

4. Possess excellent interpersonal skills, personal integrity and a demonstrated commitment to diversity.

5. Evidence of having established externally-funded, competitive, and independent research that is appropriate for the rank of assistant professor.
