Job Description

This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12 month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.

Assists Building and Grounds Superintendent with maintenance and repair on institutional buildings and grounds in the fields of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and masonry. Performs plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and masonry repair and maintenance on buildings and equipment as directed by the B&G Superintendent.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver’s License. Knowledge of the building trades and the use of associated tools, equipment and materials. Skill in the use of hand and power tools, gauges and equipment used in electrical, carpentry, plumbing and HVAC work. Working knowledge of computers. Demonstrated ability to read and understand schematics, block diagrams, and wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings and service manuals. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Experience working in building maintenance and repair.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual ability in Spanish/English helpful.
