Job Description

Paul D. Camp Community College is seeking to fill a Lead Trades Faculty position (9-month faculty) with an emphasis on teaching and assessing student learning by working with students in classrooms, laboratories, individual conferences, and related activities to help students develop their interests and abilities to the fullest capacity to become better students, workers, and citizens.

Faculty responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, office and contact hours, committee work, student and community activities and engagement, student advising and professional activities. Work may include day and evening programs/hours as well as distance learning programs. The position is expected to serve as the program lead for trades, HVAC, welding, and industrial maintenance curriculum and will contribute to the development and implementation of additional trades programs that meet the needs of regional students and employers. The faculty will teach traditional and non-traditional college students to include dual enrollment students providing 12-15 credit hours, 15-20 contact hours per week each semester and holding at least 10 office hours on a weekly basis.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in related industrial technology field and 5 years of related occupational experience in the areas of HVAC/AC, plumbing, electrical, welding, or industrial maintenance.

• Current license and/or certification in trade(s) relevant to teaching field.

• Knowledge of industry standards.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills, understanding of community college mission, and commitment to program and curriculum development and assessment and competency based instruction.

• Commitment to student recruitment, advising, and supporting students in the completion of career goals and completion requirements.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Blackboard, and other distance learning software specific to discipline.

• Sufficient technological skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes significant information and instructional technology resources.

• Willingness to teach both day and evening courses.

• Ability to work with a diverse population.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience or skill in two or more trade areas or a bachelor’s degree in a related industrial technology field.

• College teaching experience in a related area including experience assessing student learning.

• Experience applying innovative technology applications to teaching and learning.

• Additional related industry certifications

• Ability to work with industries in the service region.

• Program marketing experience
