Job Description

Position provides individual and group instruction to offenders at Coffeewood Correctional Center. Responsible for providing effective Career and Technical Education instruction in the Computer Assisted Drafting (CAD) trade area. This position assists assigned students in completing the required competencies for the Computer Assisted Drafting trade.

The selected candidate will demonstrate effective classroom or lab management; ensure the lab is operated in compliance with all aspects of safety management; and maintain accurate and current student records for assigned students.

The successful candidate will maintain classroom, equipment and inventories; ensure compliance with all DOC regulations; maintain accurate records and submit timely reports; and manage and supervise aides and students in classroom.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver’s license. Requires knowledge of all aspects of the Computer Assisted Drafting trade area. Must possess considerable skills to perform Computer Assisted Drafting tasks with ability to determine and use effective methods of service delivery. Requires ability to manage a classroom, maintain records, institute tool control procedures, and supervise assigned students and aides. Must be able to demonstrate competency on the appropriate current state licensure. Must be able to meet the physical and environmental demands of the position. Ability to work with adult offenders in a classroom/lab environment.

The selected candidate must have five years of experience with three years’ of verifiable experience the Computer Assisted Drafting trade area during the past five years. Must be eligible for or possess industry certification and/or a recognized professional trade license in the Computer Assisted Drafting trade. Must be eligible for or possess a Virginia Trade and Industrial Teaching Certificate. Must be eligible for or possess an endorsement in the trade area (Computer Assisted Drafting).

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer teaching experience in educational environment, alternative school, correctional setting, or state facility.

Special Requirements

The selected candidate will be required to obtain an industry based certification in the Computer Assisted Drafting trade area.
