Job Description

This position ensures the delivery of VCE products and materials across Virginia for both day and night delivery routes. A valid CDL Class A driver’s license in good standing is a requirement for consideration of this position.

Provides professional and safe transportation to customer locations, internal plant operations, and warehouse locations. Effectively handles inside deliveries and some product set-up. Oversees a Delivery Tech on runs involving large installations and set up. Learns and provides minor product touch-up or repair process. Assembles company product (office furniture) in customer location when necessary. Completes daily pre and post vehicle inspection forms, trip logs and other forms. Ensures that all incidents are reported and documented, including accidents or discrepancies in customer deliveries. Complies with basic OSHA safety requirements. Ensures proper completion and submission of required forms and delivery paperwork. Complies with Virginia and DOT driving regulations. Collaborates with drivers and other department management and staff to achieve quality on-time deliveries and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent. Valid CDL Class A driver’s license in good standing. Some experience in routine tractor trailer upkeep and maintenance. Substantial over-the-road tractor & 53’ trailer operation including interstate, rural and inner city driving. Substantial experience and skill in dock to dock, inside delivery, customer service, and documentation tasks. Substantial experience in pre & post-inspections and securing loads. A DMV driving record with few to no accidents or traffic violations. The ability to effectively communicate and resolve difficult situations. The ability to follow route and other work instructions, safety procedures and policy. Current DOT physical card. Detailed CDL Class A job experience and former job duties must be described in this application, in order to be considered for employment

Preferred Qualifications

Associates degree, or trade/professional certification. A work record of excellent driving, safety and product handling skills. Some experience training and/or overseeing the performance of a Delivery Helper. Some experience with Voyager or other fuel management systems. Some experience with product return (RMA), accident reporting & GPS software. Thorough DOT and VA driving regulation knowledge is preferred.

Special Requirements
