Job Description

The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services’ Division of Developmental Services is seeking three energetic, proactive individuals to provide nurse specialty consultation services and healthcare coordination for community-based individuals with intellectuals and developmental disabilities. These positions serves as the primary resource for clinical knowledge and health supportive resource management, within the scope of practice for a registered nurse, to support the region-based needs of each resident living in their community. The RNCCs will work a variety of agency based team members, Community Serve Board Case Managers, institutional and hospital and other stakeholders to assist in identifying and at times implementing services that fulfill the need for improved of development of community based health services and supports. These positions will serve individuals throughout the Commonwealth; travel and occasional overnight trips required.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate must be baccalaureate prepared or enrolled in a BSN program, a registered nurse, licensed in the state of Virginia, and possess extensive knowledge of practice standards, scope of practice, clinical nursing, and case management or systems change. Must be a proactive learner and willing to obtain any necessary certification to be competent in the special services required for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The candidate must have excellent clinical, relationship building, written, and oral communication skills; and an ability to develop, implement, and monitor established policies, procedures, laws, rules, regulations, guidelines and standards within area of clinical responsibility. An ability to become proficient in state-wide and regional community resources that would enable community-based living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, (especially those that have high medical support needs) is essential. It is essential that the candidate be familiar the expectations of the Settlement Agreement and support the mission of community integrated healthcare.
