Job Description

Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) is a comprehensive two-year college of the Virginia Community College System, serving the City of Martinsville and the counties of Henry and Patrick. PHCC serves approximately 3,500 credit and almost 2,700 non-credit students annually and, consistently ranks among the top ten “Most Tech-Savvy” community colleges in the country by the Center for Digital Education. It is one of the nation’s 82 “Achieving the Dream” Leader Colleges. The college offers transfer programs, in addition to career-track and certification programs, and serves more than 200 employers through workforce development. It is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Position Summary:
Patrick Henry Community College is always looking for qualified adjunct faculty to enhance its academic programs. We are seeking qualified adjunct faculty members to teach speech/communications classes for the fall semester of 2017. The college is primarily seeking individuals who are available to teach daytime classes. Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course basis each semester as needed. Adjunct faculty are expected to maintain currency in their teaching disciplines and in regards to trends in community college education.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum qualification to teach as a communication studies adjunct faculty member are a Master’s degree in speech/communications or a closely related field, or a master’s degree in another discipline with 18 or more graduate credits in speech/communications or a closely related field.
Candidates should be familiar with utilizing computer and other technologies for instruction.

Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
