Job Description

Responsible for managing the Outside Machining instruction process. Strive for continual improvement of student success by planning an optimal learning environment. Provides high quality instruction and advising to workforce development students. Conduct lectures and lab exercises using the Outside Machinist curriculum. Participate in the assessment of students as well as applied teaching techniques in order to increase effectiveness. Manage learning environment by ensuring the learning environment is safe at all time. Administers assessments that show student competence in the Outside Machinist trade.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of basic machinist tools, such as, but not limited to: basic hand tools, machinist hammer, hex wrench (E110), strap wrench, machinist scribe, file (deburring tool), combination square, thickness gauge (feeler gauge), dividers, inside spring calipers, outside spring calipers, telescoping (snap) gauge, and various micrometers. Knowledge of basic math (including using fractions and 1/1000ths of an inch), ruler reading / basic measurement, basic ship terms and compartmentation. Ability to take precision measurements with the tools listed above. Understanding of drawing views (section, plan, elevation, detail and isometric). Proficient in layoff foundations using appropriate reference points. Proficient in how to drill and tap a hole using technical documents. Proficient in the process of assembling a bolted flange connection. Knowledge of valve types and bridgewall markings. Knowledge of FMEDs (Foreign Matter Exclusion Devices). Must be able to work at all campus locations. Criminal history and other background checks will be required of the finalist candidate for the position. Extensive experience working as an Outside Machinist. Experience as an Outside Machinist Instructor.
