Job Description

Provides mental health services to offenders including crisis intervention, screening, psychological assessment and evaluation (psychological test administration, scoring, interpretation and report writing), psychoeducational services, individual and group therapy, treatment planning, and release planning under the supervision and direction of the Psychologist/Psychology Associate Senior. Screens, tracks and monitors offenders with mental health services needs in general population and special housing. Involved in the development, implementation and monitoring of mental health services, policies and programs at the facility. May be involved with special units or programs. Serves as a consultant to Administration, Security, Treatment and Community Corrections staff. Provides in-service training.

Minimum Qualifications

Masters degree in Psychology (clinical or counseling) or equivalent degree in related human services field from an accredited university or college or an equivalent combination of training and experience, with advanced coursework in psychology is required. Training and experience in the treatment of mental disorders and the ability to develop intervention and treatment plans and to provide individual and group counseling or therapy. Considerable working knowledge of psychopathology, diagnostic nomenclature, psychological theory and ethical practices. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate degree in Psychology (clinical or counseling) or equivalent degree in related human services field from an accredited university or college or an equivalent combination of training and experience, with advanced coursework in psychology is preferred. Relevant professional experience under supervision to include demonstrated skills in psychological assessment including diagnostic interviewing, intelligence and personality testing and interpretation and report writing. Experience providing mental health services in a correctional, forensic, outpatient or other setting. Licensed as a mental health professional and/or certified as a service provider.
