Job Description

Provides quality professional human resource services to employees at an adult correctional center. Interprets policies and procedures and provides guidance on benefits, leave, FLSA, payroll, human resource transactions, FMLA, workers’ compensation, and other human resource functions. Keys vacancies into the RMS System and updates the recruitment processes on each position. Assists in screening applications, scheduling interviews, conducting VCIN’s and submitting documentation for background investigations. Works within VNAV and HuRman systems to retrieve data for completion and submission of reports. Resolves issues between Human Resources and Payroll, Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM), Budget, and Department of Accounts (DOA). Encourages, promotes, and enhances the healing environment by modeling the way and utilizing creative means to improve customer service delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver’s license. Extensive working knowledge of generalist human resource functions, to include all of the following: leave administration, complex payroll transactions, employee benefits, and workers compensation. Working knowledge of Federal and State laws, policies, and procedures related to human resources. Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and apply human resource policies and procedures and to consult with management and employees. Extensive experience using computers and related software and applications including MS Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint). Demonstrated skill in the use of a Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) (e.g., PMIS, BES, etc.) in entering and compiling data. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer experience keying and working in RMS, HuRman and VNAV systems and retrieving reports.

Prefer some college coursework in Human Resources, a related field, or equivalent training and/or experience. Prefer SHRM or other professional Human Resources certification.
