Job Description

Germanna Community College, a learning centered college and one of the fastest growing community colleges in Virginia, is seeking an administrative assistant to provide full-time administrative support for Dual Enrollment and Early College Programs. The successful candidate shall possess office experience preferably in an academic setting. Must possess sound judgment, tact, and self-control along with considerable skill in understanding and applying policies and procedures, preparing electronic and print reports, editing/proofreading formal correspondence. Duties include, but are not limited to: scheduling appointments and meetings; receptionist duties; office management; preparing meeting minutes and editing outgoing correspondence; preparing travel arrangements and purchase orders; planning and coordinating events, maintaining the budget, and meticulous filing.

Salary Range: $23,000 to $26,000 DOE. State benefits apply (State policy pay practices apply for current state employees)

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma and office experience. Must possess advanced organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload, ability to multitask, excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be discreet, able to work independently, and be a self-starter. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and work effectively under pressure, at times with short deadlines. Must be able to adapt to changing situations. Must have considerable knowledge of personal computers and current software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree or higher in business or public administration, education, or related field.
