Job Description

This posting will be recruiting for two positions: One in the Forest Regional Office and the other in the Verona Regional Office.
The Region CWF Coordinator plays a vital role promoting the Complementary Work Force Program by assessing the need for and distribution of volunteer workers; assisting with volunteer recruitment, placement, and training; coordinating volunteer assignments, transportation resources, and requests for volunteer assistance; organizing recognition events; submitting mileage reimbursement requests; maintaining records of volunteer work hours and projects; promoting and coordinating special events; and participating in agency presentations and staffing exhibits. Other duties include working with Region staff to identify potential volunteer opportunities and in the delivery of services to the community as well as DGIF staff.

Minimum Qualifications

A working knowledge of office practices, procedures & equipment. Skill in using personal computers with MS Office or similar programs is required for data entry, data retrieval, and report preparation. Ability to accomplish work with and through others; to speak effectively in front of groups, both extemporaneously and from prepared materials; to use personal computers effectively and to learn new computer programs, as needed; to read and accurately interpret agency literature including, but not limited to, fish, game and boating laws, and agency programs, policies, and procedures; to coordinate the work of others; to safely operate sedans, pick-up trucks, and sport-utility vehicles; to travel overnight occasionally; and to write effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

Desirable experience includes related work experience as a supervisor, volunteer coordinator, project or team leader, or in public relations, human resources or training. Experience in the natural resources or wildlife area is a plus. Must possess or be eligible for a valid Virginia Driver’s license and must pass a comprehensive background investigation, including criminal history, game/fish/boat history, and traffic/safe driving history checks.
