Job Description

Germanna Community College is accepting applications for the position of a part-time (20 hours per week) GED/Pearson VUE Testing Services proctor. This position provides essential services to test candidates using the GED/Pearson VUE Testing Center. The proctor is responsible for administering and proctoring computer-based tests while following established procedures and guidelines. This position provides top-notch customer service, answers the telephone, and responds to emails. The proctor assists with the daily operations of a high-volume testing office. Some duties of the proctor include: securely administering and proctoring GED, Pearson VUE and other exams; implementing procedures and applying policies and regulations in High Tech Testing Services; ensuring the integrity and security of all exams; provide consistent information on testing policies and procedures to test candidates and prospective candidates; maintaining a secure and quiet environment for testing; and performing other duties as assigned. This position is required to work flexible hours including some evenings, holidays and weekends. The Fredericksburg Area Campus is the position’s main location, but the proctor is required to provide coverage as needed at the Daniel Technology Center and other off-site locations. This is a restricted position based on annual funding from July 1 to June 30. Current funding ends on June 30, 2018. Position is open until filled.

Salary: $14.00 per hour (state benefits do not apply)

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or an equivalent

Two years of frontline customer service experience in a high volume environment.

Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Intermediate experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook); proficient knowledge of computer technology and Windows Operating Systems

Must be able to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team

Ability to learn applications quickly

Ability to work flexible hours are required, including some holidays as well as the ability to work mornings, evenings and weekends at any campus location

Pearson Vue certification or completed within 30 days of hire date.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field; At least one year of experience administering and proctoring GED and Pearson VUE exams; At least one year of experience working in a post-secondary educational environment, preferably in Testing or Student Services; and Pearson VUE Certification.
