Job Description

Special Taxes and Services is recruiting for a Management Analyst Senior to perform a variety of analytical duties in support of Special Taxes and Services programs, services, projects, and initiatives for Tax Credit Administration. As a Management Analyst Senior, you will provide technical and analytical support by researching information, gathering data, reporting and statistics, running SQL queries, maintaining databases, providing legislative implementation support, and resolving functional defects and issues associated with Advantage Revenue. You will also administer procedures, controls and data input into the Tax Credit Bank to ensure accuracy and reliability of taxpayer credit balances.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of Virginia tax returns, schedules, rules, regulations, returns and forms. Knowledge of Advantage Revenue (AR) and IRMS is a plus.

Advanced analytical and research skills to gather data for inquires, compile results, and identify and solve problems using a variety of research and analytical methodologies.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products to include the ability to formulate detailed spreadsheets in Excel and to create and maintain databases and run queries in Access.

Ability to merge, manipulate and identify errors of data received from various sources.

Experience with SQL and ad hoc reporting.

Knowledge and experience with accounting concepts and principles.

Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

Strong organizational skills to include multi-tasking and prioritizing tasks effectively.

Successful project management experience including meeting established deadlines.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to provide quality customer service to internal and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications

College level training or experience in accounting, taxes, business administration or information systems preferred.

Experience in management analysis or related work activities.

Experience with data collection systems and data communication.

Ability to read and review complicated technical materials is strongly preferred.

Special Requirements

Virginia Tax employees must be current with filing their Virginia state tax returns ensuring they were filed in compliance with established laws, rules and regulations. Selected candidate(s) will be required to consent to and successfully pass a background investigation which includes fingerprint-based criminal history, tax compliance, and DMV driving record (if applicable) checks.
