Job Description

The Central location for this position will be the Aldie Motor Carrier Service Center and meets in the Marshal VA area VDOT to begin the work day.
DMV is looking for a individual to work within weighing operations to ensure the safety of motorists and protection of Virginia’s highways by monitoring overweight and oversized trucks in accordance with truck weighing policies and procedures and Motor Carrier laws and regulations; to weigh and inspect commercial vehicles for compliance with regulations, identify and report vehicle and traffic problems, prepare safety violation information concerning local routing and state truck laws and perform a combination of data collection/analysis duties to facilitate law enforcement activities for the monitoring of size and weight regulations . Uses independent judgment in the decision making and management of mobile operations, staffing and vehicle/equipment maintenance. Interacts with State Police, local law enforcement personnel and officials to ensure weighing policies and procedures regarding Virginia size and weight laws are enforced in a safe and professional manner.

Minimum Qualifications

*Knowledge of collecting, editing and manipulating data using computers;
*Some knowledge of truck weighing policies, procedures and operations and Virginia and federal laws and the Motor Vehicle Code of Virginia
*Skill in use of automated equipment, such as computers;
*Ability to perform mathematical calculations; *Ability to analyze data and make recommendations on traffic control measures at sites and facility;
*Ability to communicate tactfully with customers and staff; to effectively perform mobile operation functions;
*Ability to lift 50 pounds and to work outdoors in inclement weather.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of truck weighing procedures and policies, of related Virginia and federal laws and the Motor Vehicle Code of Virginia is a plus. High School diploma or equivalent.

Truck weighing experience is a plus.
