Job Description

The Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission, an independent State agency with their independent IS staff and IS infrastructure, is seeking a qualified, energetic team player to work as a Software Testing Technician. The incumbent will be responsible for understanding and following the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from a testing perspective; participate in Requirements reviews; analyze, design, and develop test scripts/cases to ensure sufficient code coverage of the new or modified software application; execute automated and manual test scripts/cases; document and validate identified software defects; assist with the implementation of improvements in test methods and strategies; and execute test scripts and logs appropriate testing activities and metrics. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or coursework in computer science, information systems, or a related field or the equivalent in training and/or experience. Knowledge of software quality assurance testing concepts, processes, procedures, and tools, in addition to an understanding of the SDLC. Detail-oriented performer that is proficient in operating Windows-based operating systems and using Web applications. Experience with software and Web development Software Development Lifecycle. Experience in software testing; MyEclipse, Internet Explorer (version 7 and 8 preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred: Knowledge of industry best practices in relation to software testing and quality assurance as well as an understanding of different software testing tools which may include QuickTestPro, JIRA, QualityCenter, WinRunner, LoadRunner, Parasoft Concerto, Parasoft SOATest, Selennium, and SilkTest is preferred.
