Job Description

The Digital Media Specialist, a part-time 20-29-hour per week position, will work under the direction of the VCCS Assistant Vice Chancellor for Strategic Communications.

The Digital Media Specialist is a role for a talented individual who can apply a strong visual sense to the creative development and digital design of the VCCS website in support of the institution’s mission and strategic goals. We are looking for a creative, thorough, and innovative team player who thrives in a demanding, fast-paced environment. Primary job duties involve providing graphic, video, and web design/development/support for the VCCS website. A successful applicant needs excellent project management and communication skills, as well as a willingness to contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

• Design, develop, manage, and maintain multiple web and design projects which may include interactive forums, online schedules, registrations and other interactive tools for conferences, events, workshops, and sessions;
• Work with leadership to ascertain project needs, organization goals and brand values; and
• Supports and communicates the mission, values, and culture of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in Multimedia Design, or a related field with considerable experience with web, graphic and user interface design; or combination of relevant education and experience that allows position to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Experience with industry standard tools and software in web development/design;
• Experience with HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and their uses in responsive design, and mobile/desktop app design;
• Expert with WordPress;
• Demonstrated experience applying multi-browser and multi-platform development including the transformation of desktop data to mobile devices (iOS and/or Android);
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite programs (Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver) Acrobat Professional, and Microsoft Office;
• Demonstrated ability to handle several projects simultaneously;
• Excellent interpersonal, written, oral communication, and organizational skills;
• Ability to use data analytics to make strategic recommendations regarding website materials and features; and
• Ability to take direction and work with a team by taking constructive feedback and input, and successfully implementing it into the final visual solution.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Design or related field with a minimum of five years of experience with web, graphic and user interface design;
• Experience in graphic design for digital media, video editing and the web delivery of video, and website development; and
• Demonstrated knowledge of Google Analytics and search engine optimization.

Special Requirements

Required Work Hours:
Part-time (not to exceed 29 hours per week), occurring between the typical work hours of 8:30AM to 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday. Hours outside that period may be required to respond to website-related outages or emergencies.

Little to no travel is required for this position.
