Job Description

Purpose: Adjunct Faculty for Youth Programs with Workforce Services –
Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a public, comprehensive community college serving the city of Charlottesville and the six adjacent counties.

We are seeking to identify qualified and interested adjunct faculty members in the following STEM and Arts subject areas. Subject areas may include: computers/technology, architecture, sciences, engineering, environmental education, arts, health, forensics, media, horticulture, photography, health fields, languages, career exploration, and/or specialized skills training.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Adjunct faculty members are hired as instructors for summer (www.pvcc.edu/kidscollege) spring break and/or summer STEM & Arts project-based academies. Responsibilities include teaching courses for children and youth, rising 3rd-10th grades, during week-long, half-day workshop-style classes. Administrative duties include general clerical functions that include recording student class attendance, maintaining current course syllabus and providing pre- and post-evaluations to students.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess skills, knowledge, experience and education in the subject area and experience with youth.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience and work experience in the field, college degree. Teaching or work experience with children and/or youth.
