Job Description

This nurse is responsible for the medical service coordination of the STI PrEP program. In addition, this person will function as the district coordinator for services provided by the PrEP program. This person will be the core of disseminating prevention efforts throughout the community. Responsible for networking and coordinating efforts with Regional Partners in HIV Prevention Services. Case management services will be provided to clients enrolled in the PrEP program by monitoring ordered laboratory specimens, vaccination administration, and ensuring adherence to medication regimen. This person will provide direct patient care to clients serviced in the STI clinic. Responsible for PrEP program record keeping, data management, and completing required reports per agency guidelines. This position encompasses office management and training of staff (clinical and non-clinical), outreach and HIV testing activities, patient education and navigation, and community education. This position will conduct client-centered PrEP education and adherence counseling services with a focus on client acquisition, engagement and retention.

Minimum Qualifications

Current unrestricted registered nurse license in State of Virginia or compact state,and graduated from an accredited school of nursing. BSN or equivalent training and experience required with considerable experience. Must have current CPR certification or ability to obtain certification. Knowledge of HIV/AIDS health care services; public health and case management principles and practices; quality assurance issues relevant to program development, implementation and evaluation; and state procurement policies and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; evaluate the quality of HIV health care services; collect and analyze data on disease conditions of public health significance; conduct health care audits, prepare reports and present findings; provide technical assistance; write grant narratives; monitor contracts and spending; and prepare and conduct training. Strong computer (e.g. Microsoft Office Professional and databases), customer service and program evaluation skills. Experience in working with socially high risk populations in an outpatient setting. Must be able to work independently; provide services in the community as well as in the clinical setting and strong problem solving abilities. Working knowledge of LBGTQ culture and terminology. Experience monitoring medication regimen.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer BSN or equivalent training and experience; advanced public health practice or community experience is an added plus. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred but not required. Experience in case management and sexually transmitted infection program. Knowledge of PrEP and nPEP medication regimen. Possess public speaking skills.

Special Requirements

Unrestricted RN licensure in Virginia or a compact state required.
Must have a valid driver’s license and provide own transportation for work-related travel (mileage reimbursed for work-related travel).
