Job Description

WWRC is recruiting for a wage Manufacturing Technology Instructor. The MTI will Instruct persons with disabilities in trade related skills needed to prepare them for occupational training to obtain the Manufacturing Specialist and Manufacturing Technician 1 credentials prior to graduation and manufacturing employment.

As needed, applicant will supervise and manage instructional area to provide a safe and organized instructional environment according to WWRC and Vocational Training department policies. Helps to maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, coordinates a variety of educational activities and monitors student behavior and instructional environment. Provides effective customer relations with students, other staff, and internal and external customers. To meet the expectations of this position, the incumbent must have access to personally Identifiable and confidential information.

Minimum Qualifications

Considerable experience with classroom training in a manufacturing business, a Collegiate Professional License or Technical Professional License or experience teaching in a classroom situation is required

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of career and technology skills and competencies in the Manufacturing industry, teaching methods and techniques, special education regulations, behavior modification techniques, employment adaptations and accommodations, disability characteristics, assessment techniques.
Skill in: classroom management, instructional design and development, communication, curriculum implementation, planning.
Ability to teach students with disabilities, work with others, make decisions, perform problem-solving, and work independently Ability to demonstrate excellent people skills, communication and customer service skills. Ability to successfully prepare people with disabilities for future employment in the Manufacturing Industry as a production technician or production worker. Ability to continue the teaching of curriculum and running the classroom when other staff members are absent. Ability to monitor, document and review with teachers and case managers any training issues and identified hurdles to employment for any Manufacturing Technology Training program student. Ability to complete and review with teachers and case managers in a timely manner all required documentation including observation notes, etc. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Special Requirements

This has been designated a sensitive position under Va. Code ยง 2.2-1201.1. Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center will conduct an extensive fingerprint-based criminal history check and credentialing process on all final candidates.
