Job Description

The Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a qualified Nursing Supervisor to provide support and supervision for the nursing staff at the Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center. The supervisor will work as a team with the head nurse, to provide leadership and to maintain a standard of nursing practice consistent with state/federal laws, the Virginia Board of Nursing laws, regulations, guidance documents, and DJJ policies and procedures, based on community standards. This position will provide supervision and support to all nurses, including those not on their assigned shifts.

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to apply principles, practices and procedures of professional nursing, ensuring that nursing practices are consistent with patient needs, care standards, and established policies and procedures. Experience in leadership/supervision of nursing staff. Effectively communicates both orally and in writing and has the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team. Graduate of accredited school of nursing; license to practice in Virginia; current CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; considerable supervisory experience or teaching experience; CPR for Healthcare provider with AED & First Aid certification; NCCHC or ACA certification; experience with EMR.

Special Requirements

A pre-employment drug screen and background investigation are required. A valid Virginia driver’s license may be required by the date of employment.
