Job Description

We seek a personable and organized Senior Business Systems Analyst position to provide analytical, functional and technical support for the System Office and College’s implementation and use of the VCCS’ enterprise business applications. Specific assignments may vary but could include the Student Information System (SIS), Human Resources Management System (HRMS), Administrative Information System (AIS); integrated VCCS applications including Online Application for Admissions (OAA), Workforce Enterprise System (WES), SAILS early alert system, and the decision support system QUINN; and integrated COV applications including Cardinal, PMIS, SCHEV, and eVA. More specifically this position will perform some or all of the following:

• Assist in taking business process reengineering to the next level to support business decision and recommend best practices and policy in ERP implementations, maintenance and data quality.
• Conduct business process analyses, needs assessments, preliminary cost/benefits analyses in an effort to align IT solutions with VCCS business initiatives.
• Work with business users at the System Office and 23 colleges to define and analyze problems and align the most appropriate technical, application or configuration solutions.
• Solicit, develop, document, and manage requirements and provide detailed design and business rules to support the requirements throughout project life cycle.
• Provide management with requested ad hoc data/reports from systems as necessary.
• Identify and address data quality issues across the organization through root cause analysis and remediation activities.
• Create and develop test plans for project deliverables against requirements.
• As required, assist in test plan execution including release validation.
• Provide support and train users on available tools and methodologies.
• Identify and engage the appropriate IT and business participants as well as manage requirements, risks, issues, changes, and updates.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and potential upside to the business.
• As required, assist in off-hours support and issue triage.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree or combination of relevant education and experience that provide the required level of knowledge, skills and ability to successfully perform the functions of the job requirements.
• Experience developing and supporting interfaces to external applications including secure file transfers.
• Experience with current releases of PeopleTools, PeopleSoft Financial Management, PeopleSoft Human Resource Management or PeopleSoft Campus Solutions or other large-scale ERP applications.
• Experience working in relational databases and IT systems software.
• Experience interpreting policies and procedures, college and system requirements.
• Experience with developing documentation and training others.
• Demonstrated experience in supporting the analysis and documentation of business needs and support of large-scale, complex, commercial off-the-shelf software systems to meet those business needs.
• Extremely high level of expertise and extensive experience in providing technology customer service.
• Proven track record motivating highly skilled technical staff to work together as a team and accomplish significantly complicated tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Substantial knowledge of cited functions and four-year degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, or a four-year degree with a minor in information systems or computer science.
• State Project Certification ( or must be completed during first year of employment)
