Job Description

The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services’ Division of Developmental Services is seeking a highly motivated, skilled, well organized and experienced individual to work collaboratively with nine other Community Resource Consultants across the state in supporting the development of qualified community providers for individuals with DD. This individual will assist in building community capacity to support individuals with intensive support needs. This individual will provide technical assistance and training to Community Services Boards and private providers on the Medicaid DD Waivers and Targeted Case Management services, person-centered practices, individual support planning, community connections and other best practices. This position responds to questions from the field, develops guidance materials, and holds regional quarterly informational forums. This individual will act as a liaison between support coordinators, private providers and Central Office; assisting with intensive cases, helping to identify resources, and supporting providers to comply with state and federal regulations and requirements. Travel and overnights are involved with on-site technical assistance, delivery of large and small trainings, presentations, meetings with stakeholders, participation on Settlement Agreement workgroups and other projects. Position will be located in or around the Frederick County area and requires travel.

Minimum Qualifications

Developmental disability educational knowledge and professional experience, including direct experience in the delivery of community DD services and supports. Understanding of best practices, particularly person-centered practices. Knowledge and experience in the implementation of quality assurance/quality enhancement (QA/QE) systems. Ability to communicate effectively, including in writing; to develop and implement projects; to develop and sustain relationships; to work well independently, with a regional partner, and on a team. An equivalent combination of training and experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge and abilities may substitute for this education and experience. Additional experience with other disabilities helpful.

Preferred Qualifications

Skills in training, person-centered and other best practices and knowledge of Virginia’s DD Community Medicaid Waiver and Case Management Services preferred. Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social or behavioral sciences, education or related field preferred.

Special Requirements

Position will be located in or around the Frederick County area and requires travel.
