Job Description

This position is responsible for Information Technology (IT) phases (Construction, and Transition) and disciplines (Requirements, Analysis and Design, Implementation, Test, Deployment, and Change Management) of the system development lifecycle (SDLC) of one or more automated IT applications, systems and software. Confers with analysts, domain experts and users to understand and document requirements, estimate levels of effort and meet system needs. Performs programming duties (including enhancements and maintenance) using JAVA, Eclipse, Hibernate, JBoss, and Subversion; writes and maintains appropriate program codes; uses meaningful naming conventions; utilizes security best practices; and uses interfaces and reports efficiently. Develops, tests, and implements new systems and applications; ensures deployment plan, maintenance and enhancements are completed within scope, budget and schedule. Determines feasibility of systems enhancements and automation; works with staff and end users to identify and resolve application issues. Keeps abreast of new technologies and tools for software development, testing, implementation and maintenance. Prepares application documentation (e.g., use cases, software requirements specifications, interface documents, and wireframes), user documentation and user training materials; conducts training as needed; and responds to inquiries and troubleshoots issues related to scalability, response times, availability, security, reliability, robustness and accessibility.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of Java related enterprise architecture standards and best practices; n-tier technologies; SDLC methodologies; industry best practices in source code control and configuration management; and IT Security and Disaster Recovery Plan requirements. Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, IT development, and problem resolution skills. Experience in developing moderately complex n-tier Java/J2EE applications using JSP, Servlets, Spring, EJB, and JavaScript, ORM Frameworks (e.g., Hibernate), Java Development IDE (e.g., Eclipse), or comparable system; utilizing design patterns and software development best practices to accurately implement business requirements; implementing business applications and systems; building and maintaining data and application architectures; using build and deployment tools (e.g., Subversion, Ant, Maven, Hudson, Jenkins, and JBoss Operations Network); interacting effectively in a team environment; working independently, typically with strict deadlines, heavy workloads and changing priorities; and handling complex IT problems, with minimal referral to higher level staff.

Preferred Qualifications

: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree or major in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable experience in programming and some experience in system analysis. Experience working with Drupal, JBoss Applications Server, PHP and jQuery.
