Job Description

This is a wage position. No state benefits are provided. Position(s) are TEMPORARY and will be utilized for emergency situations ONLY.

Appomattox Residency is seeking to fill multiple temporary, seasonal administrative support positions to assist during 24 hour emergency weather situations only in Amherst and Nelson Counties. Will be on-call for up to a 12 hour shift during inclement weather to perform clerical duties for a Residency office and/or its area headquarters field location. Duties will include but not be limited to: answering telephones and responding to inquiries; greeting internal and external customers and directing them to the appropriate person/contact; providing administrative and clerical support in areas like manual time keeping, inventory control, completing forms and documents. Will be on-call for other types of weather emergencies; must be able to respond during emergency situations at night, on the weekends, and/or on the holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

Must possess a valid Driver’s license. Demonstrated experience answering telephones; working with a variety of customers; responding to customers’ inquiries promptly and politely. Experience working in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment. Proven ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and staff. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in a timely and accurate manner.

Preferred Qualifications

Education combined with training and/or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job. Experience with Microsoft Office applications, keyboarding, and use of basic office equipment. Ability to communicate using a two-way radio.

Special Requirements

This position is required to work in emergency situations, inclement weather, and to respond after normal work hours. Safety shoes required. Fingerprint based criminal history background check, references, work history and DMV records will be verified prior to employment.
