Job Description

The Commonwealth Center for Children & Adolescents (CCCA) is Virginia’s only public acute psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents. CCCA serves youngsters with a variety of serious psychiatric and behavioral difficulties from across the Commonwealth. Treatment is provided by multidisciplinary teams in a relationship-based, collaborative, trauma-informed treatment model of care. The facility is located in a vibrant town in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley within 30 minutes of major university towns. The mission of CCCA is to provide high quality acute psychiatric evaluation, crisis stabilization, and intensive short-term treatment that empowers children and their families to make developmentally appropriate choices and that strengthens children’s hope, resilience and self esteem.

The Nurse Educator is a Wage/part-time position that will provide ongoing education and training to nursing staff based on mandates, best practices, performance issues, quality management/ performance improvement focus areas, and ongoing professional growth of staff. Flexible schedule available.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to participate as member of nursing leadership team to identify educational needs and opportunities
Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate educational offerings based on needs of nursing staff and nursing QM findings.
Ability to effectively communicate and teach to varying levels of staff using various educational mediums (on line, live presentations, polycom, etc.)
BSN and experience in education/teaching of nursing students or nursing employees is required. Computer skills commensurate with position required.

An Extensive Background Check to include Drug Screen for successful candidate is required.
