Job Description

The position supports the Thomas Nelson Community College Enrollment Services Call Center and serves as the front line in communicating with current and prospective students over the telephone, via email, and text message. This position is high volume and can be stressful in peak periods. Candidate must possess strong customer service skills and have the ability to respond to complex inquiries patiently, politely, and thoroughly. This position requires training and knowledge of all areas of Enrollment Services, as well as community college policies and procedures including applications for admission, transcript requests, screening students for cross-registration eligibility, readmission appeals, domicile reclassification, graduation applications, transfer evaluations, course substitutions, and placement testing. The position requires strict compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures in place for the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) while assisting students and other college constituents with enrollment inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience in a high volume call center. Extensive computer experience with MS Office including Outlook, Excel, Word and Internet Applications. Excellent oral and written communication skills as demonstrated by resume and cover letter. Extensive customer service experience in stressful situations. Ability to work independently and problem solve. Must be able to work at all campus locations. Criminal history and other background checks will be required of the finalist candidate for the position. Satisfactory reference and background checks are a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s degree. Familiarity with a Student Information System (SIS). Experience in a higher education setting.
