Job Description

Purpose: PVCC is accepting applications for a part-time evening/Saturday circulation assistant. Hours are Monday through Friday, 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays during the fall and spring semesters; 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday during the summer session. Scheduled hours only occur when classes are in session. This position is part-time, with no benefits, and does not exceed 29 hours/week.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides circulation assistance to patrons by checking library materials in and out
  2. Re-shelves library material
  3. Maintains paper in copy machines and telephones requests for repairs
  4. Helps maintain the stacks in good order through daily shelf reading and straightening
  5. Troubleshoots basic computer questions
  6. Provides basic information to students and directs them to the reference librarian
  7. Makes change for students for printing and helps students with print process
  8. Cleans shelves in the stacks
  9. Cleans and straightens computer area
  10. Assists reference/instructional librarian with classroom set-up
  11. Performs closing procedures at night
  12. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Superior customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
