Job Description

Piedmont Virginia Community College is accepting applications for a full-time Employment Support Coordinator. As Employment Support Coordinator, this individual will serve as a liaison between PVCC’s Community Self-Sufficiency Program job-seekers and the employers who hire them, including but not limited to, maintaining consistent post-employment communication with employers to address any job retention issues.

In addition, this individual will organize and oversee the daily operations of the division of Community Self-Sufficiency Programs and will serve as the point of contact for the division in the dean’s absence. This position reports to the Dean of Community Self-Sufficiency Programs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison with employers who hire the job-seekers who are enrolled in Community Self-Sufficiency Programs, including but not limited to, encouraging those employers to hire non-traditional students.
  • Maintain contact with employers after they hire Community Self-Sufficiency job-seekers to address any job retention issues that may arise in the first 90 days of employment.
  • Coordinate with Community Self-Sufficiency’s Peer Network Coordinator(s) to address any job retention issues identified by employers through post-employment contact.
  • Assist employers in recruiting entry-level employees by helping them complete job tickets in PVCC’s mobile-enabled website, N2Work.
  • Coordinate with the deans of Business, Math and Technology; Health and Life Sciences; and Workforce Services, to build networks and establish effective working partnerships with a variety of partners, including business and industry and the workforce development system.
  • Work with the Dean of Community Self-Sufficiency Programs to develop, implement and update (when necessary) policies and procedures that guides daily operations of the division.
  • Work with the Dean of Community Self-Sufficiency Programs to develop a budget and financial plan for the division.
  • Serve as the point of contact for the dean when the dean is unavailable.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor‘s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with business/industry/employers
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • Experience working in a community college setting
  • Experience working with diverse/at-risk populations
