Job Description

The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation is seeking a qualified individual to provide digital marketing and communication capacity to the 2019 Commemoration Office. This position is the lead on all digital platforms to include website design and updates, twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and e-newsletters. Manages all web content and works with contractor to ensure functionality and ongoing improvements are being applied to our website to meet our customers’ needs. Execution of marketing plans in the digital space – from concept to production, and ensure functionality meets the needs of the plan. Works closely with deputy director and members of the management team to ensure brand and creative integration of marketing strategy across overall commemoration efforts in the digital space, ensuring deliverables are met on time and on budget.
This is a restricted position based on non-recurring funding through June 30, 2020.

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated background and experience in website design and updates, social platforms and Google analytics. Excellent word processing, computer, record-keeping and oral/written communication skills. Working knowledge of office practices and procedures. Ability to plan and organize, deal effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management, staff and the general public. Proficiency in WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office software preferred. High school graduate or equivalent required.

Preferred Qualifications

Some college preferred. Background in non-profit or museum field and/or volunteer administration preferred.

Special Requirements

All full-time and part-time paid staff of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation is required to complete and sign an Application for Employment. All volunteers of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation are required to complete an Application for Volunteerism. These documents require an employee or volunteer to certify that they have never been convicted for any type of violation. This is above and beyond VA Code §22.1-296.1-C which states “that (i) he has not been convicted of a felony or any offense involving the sexual molestation or physical or sexual abuse or rape of a child; and (ii) whether he has been convicted of a crime of moral turpitude.” In addition, the Foundation completes both name and sex registry background checks through Virginia State Police on all paid and core volunteer staff and the Contractor will (i) maintain all employee certifications on file, (ii) require an employee to update the employee’s certification if the employee later is convicted of any reportable offense, and (iii) will make these certifications available to FCPS for inspection upon request.” Foundation staff must also be eligible to work using the E-Verify system through U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
