Job Description

The persons hired for these positions are eligible for a $1,000 Sign-On Bonus – $500 at 6 months and $500 at 1 year, with acceptable performance at those intervals.

The Department of Juvenile Justice Behavioral Services Unit is seeking qualified mental health professionals to work with committed youth at a Juvenile Correctional Facility. This position will be responsible for providing these services within self-contained sex offender treatment unit. Populations served may be specific to certain groups of male juvenile offenders. Adolescents may include those in general population with developmental delays and or significant mental health issues.

The service needs of this population will include mental health, sex offender treatment, substance abuse, and/or aggression management. The primary duties of this position will be to provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy and to prepare individualized treatment plans, generate formal risk assessment reports, and document services provided; provides clinical, technical, and consultative information and direction to the treatment team/unit staff team related to individual and group interventions. This position requires participation in the on call rotation. The candidate will consult / collaborate with clinical peers, psychiatry, case management, correctional center staff, facility administrators, court service units, and outside agencies. Additional duties may involve participation on various institutional committees and peer staff training.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Graduate degree in clinical or counseling psychology. Clinical experience utilizing evidence-based psychotherapeutic techniques in individual and group therapies. Knowledge of psychological principles of behavior management. Knowledge and training in psychological assessment in the areas of cognitive and personality functioning. Experience conducting psychological evaluations utilizing and interpreting standardized, objective instruments.
Also needed are the abilities to utilize good clinical judgment, be well-organized, follow direction, deliver structured evidence based programing, work independently, function as a team member, and communicate well both orally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology. Experience providing treatment services to a delinquent population of youths in a correctional center, residential setting, or group home. Experience providing risk assessments; providing crisis intervention to clients exhibiting suicidal behaviors. Licensure in a given discipline such as a Clinical Psychologist (LCP) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Certification as a Sex Offender Treatment Provider.
