Job Description

To enhance the programming package of the Admissions Unit through concentrating 75% of available time on the provision of active treatment, providing consultation to Unit Treatment Team and Nursing personnel, and carrying out other duties as specified by the Unit Programs Director. Will focus majority of clinical service provision in the area of substance abuse treatment, but will refocus efforts as needed according to relevant skill level, and dependent upon the primary treatment needs of Admissions Unit patients. All such efforts will be supervised and coordinated by the Unit Programs Director and the Clinical Director.

Must have knowledge of group and individual treatment techniques, ability to utilize a customer service mindset in which patients, families, community and fellow providers are all viewed as customer groups. Must be able to utilize basic computer skills to track service hours and other relevant data. Must be able to assist the Unit Programs Director in focusing programming on the needs of the patients on the Unit at any particular point in time. Must also be able to communicate clearly with all stakeholders and customer groups, market services effectively to treatment teams and other relevant parties, and structure work in order to maximize productive use of direct service resources. Must have the ability to work in a secure and locked environment with individuals who are experiencing acute symptoms of mental illness and/or additional forensic/legal involvement. Minimum Qualifications

Strongly prefer Bachelor’s Degree in human services, mental health, substance abuse, and/or developmental disabilities. Graduation from high school with college Bachelor’s level coursework and a combination of relevant training and experience required. Previous experience providing therapeutic activity, social, or leisure services with inpatient individuals with mental illness, substance abuse, and developmental disabilities

Preferred Qualifications

Strongly prefer certification or in the process of pursuing certification as a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor, Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, and/or Master Addictions Counselor endorsement Substance Abuse treatment provider. Experience in planning and implementing substance abuse rehabilitation preferred.

Special Requirements

A fingerprint-based criminal history check, a Department of Social Services/Child Protective Services check, and drug testing is required for the selected candidate for this position.
