Job Description

The Commonwealth Center for Children & Adolescents (CCCA) is Virginia’s only public acute psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents. CCCA serves youngsters with a variety of serious psychiatric and behavioral difficulties from across the Commonwealth. Treatment is provided by multidisciplinary teams in a relationship-based, collaborative, trauma-informed treatment model of care. The facility is located in Staunton, a vibrant town in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley within 30 minutes of major university towns. The mission of CCCA is to provide high-quality acute psychiatric a valuation, crisis stabilization, and intensive short term treatment that empowers children and their families to make developmentally appropriate choices and that strengthens children’s hope, resilience, and self-esteem.

CCCA HR seeking to build a pool of reliable part-time/PRN direct service associates who are interested in supporting CCCA’s mission by working weekend and holiday shifts. Flexibility in scheduling and the desired number of hours candidates want to work will be considered when scheduling.

The Direct Service Associate II/Psychiatric Nursing Assistant is responsible for the direct care of the patients that is consistent with the child’s treatment plan; builds therapeutic relationships, and provides trust-building, strength based individualized care using the least restrictive interventions necessary while upholding the rights and dignity of the children and their families at all times. Responsibilities include building helping and supportive relationships with children and adolescents under the supervision of highly qualified supervisor in clinical staff, using positive, proactive therapeutic interventions; planning indirectly participating and scheduled activities with children adolescents. The center provides 24-hour care throughout the year. This recruitment is part-time for all shifts. Must complete orientation between the hours of 8:30 AM and 5 PM upon hire.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated experience with children and/or adolescents. Experience in a mental health setting. Coursework or degree in human service field. Experience in healthcare setting or related field. Bilingual language skills.
