Job Description

Are you looking for a position where you can have a positive impact on Virginia’s Criminal Justice System through planning and implementing programs and initiatives designed to provide support to domestic and sexual violence programs in Virginia? If so, we may have a wonderful opportunity for you!

The Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) seeks a highly qualified and motivated full-time professional dedicated to improving Virginia’s efforts to enhance services to victims of domestic and sexual violence. As the Training and Victim Services Grant Program Coordinator, this individual will provide a variety of technical assistance; program development; and assistance in development of training, planning, and evaluation services to state and local agencies, criminal justice programs, boards, commissions and task forces.

The Training and Victim Services Grant Program Coordinator will:
• Provide oversight and management of state grant programs and projects
• Prepare and submit applications and reports as required by federal or state agencies to ensure continued receipt of funds.
• Monitor federal and state funding to localities and agencies.
• Provide technical assistance and consultation regarding the development and enhancement of grant funded programs.
• Develop guidelines, resources, policies, and procedures as required for specific grant administration.
• Develop and coordinate trainings for the victims’ services section.
• Provide guidance and training to grantees and criminal justice professionals.
• Provide technical assistance and customer service to external and internal customers.

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate must possess the following required qualifications:
• Experience working with the criminal justice system, victims’ issues, or the courts in a professional capacity.
• Experience developing and presenting complex information to a variety of diverse audiences.
• Experience utilizing a variety of training methods, tools, and techniques in the delivery of instructional programs.
• Experience with grant funded programs and activities i.e. grant review, grant monitoring, and reporting activities or comparable experience.
• Demonstrated experience interpreting policy and procedures specifically related to grant guidelines and contracts
• Considerable experience using learning management systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite to include, but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Documented experience in working both as an active and contributing team member as well as independently.
• Attention to detail.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to compose narrative reports and correspondence.
• A strong work ethic, good customer service skills, and a positive attitude.
• Exhibited ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to occasionally travel including day and overnight trips.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred qualifications are:
• A post-secondary education to include bachelors, masters, or other professional training/certification in areas related to education, training and development, criminal justice, business administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may substitute for educational requirements.
• Experience using the Commonwealth’s Learning Management Systems.
• Experience conducting research, needs assessments, and program evaluation.

Special Requirements

Interview candidates may be required to demonstrate the skills and abilities necessary for satisfactory performance of work. The candidate selected for the position must successfully complete a criminal background investigation and complete and submit a Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) which will be entered into the Federal E-Verify system to confirm identity and work authorization. In addition, the selected candidate who begins original employment or re-employment in this position must serve a 12-month probationary period effective from the date of employment.
