Job Description

The Department of Accounts is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable accounting professional to serve as a Payroll/Benefits Analyst in the Payroll Service Bureau. Candidate must possess strong analytical and problem solving skills and a strong work ethic. Candidate must be team oriented with strong communication skills, including proficiency and professionalism in written and verbal communications. Candidate must have the ability to adapt to changes in policies, procedures and priorities proficiently. Candidate must be willing to uphold and adhere to the standards for Bureau operations with an emphasis on customer service.

Primary duties include performing the payroll and benefits processing functions, including absence tracking, for agencies participating in the Bureau. Additional responsibilities include the preparation of payroll audit materials and monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations and information returns in conformance with Federal and State guidelines and policies.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include: Knowledge of generally accepted payroll practices; effective communication skills, including professionalism in written communications; strong analytical and effective problem resolution skills; ability to read, interpret and apply policy and procedures; and proficiency with Microsoft PC applications, including Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include: Knowledge of the policies and procedures associated with employee compensation, benefits, and absence management; knowledge of payroll, benefits and absence management systems; effective organizational and time management skills; demonstrated job stability; Bachelor of Science in accounting or related field from an accredited university or the equivalent of extensive experience in Accounting/Fiscal processes, and ability to work collaboratively with management, staff and agency personnel.
