Job Description

Thomas Nelson seeks faculty to provide dynamic and engaging instruction to a diverse student population in health, physical education and wellness courses. Collaborate as a member of faculty team to implement curriculum and facilitate student success. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and foster a positive learning environment. Evaluate student performance and provide remediation as needed in the cognitive, psychomotor and affective areas. Maintain facility, college, and program policies and expectations. Participate in college, division and program meetings and professional development activities. Submit timely and accurate documentation as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in health or physical education, exercise science, public health, nutrition and wellness courses. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate with faculty and students to facilitate positive learning experiences. Commitment to the community college philosophy. Flexible schedule to teach daytime courses. Must be able to work at all campus locations. Criminal history and other background checks will be required of the finalist candidate for the position. Satisfactory reference and background checks are a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in health, physical education, exercise science, community health, public health, or nutrition. Previous community college teaching experience. Current CPR/first aid certification. Certified health education specialist or certified personal trainer credential.
