Job Description

The Deputy Clerk (Grade 8) is assigned operational responsibilities in a high volume, fast paced office with frequent deadlines. This employee must be able to ensure the court’s instructions are executed and legal documents are prepared with accuracy and in accordance with state and local policies. Provides effective and courteous customer service assistance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to judicial support in the courtroom ; ensures that the court’s instructions are executed; preparation of legal papers with accuracy and in accordance with appropriate policies, judicial instructions, and/or statutory regulations; ability to meet deadlines with prepping dockets and issuing processes; possess good verbal/written communication skills; possess sound problem resolution skills; ability to deliver a high degree of customer service to the public and interfacing agencies; management of competing priorities; detailed oriented; highly accurate, team oriented and excellent at follow-up and multi-tasking in a very fast paced office with tight deadlines. Other responsibilities include returning phone calls, accessing fines and costs, issuing court papers and scanning. Must be able assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required. Most competitive applicants will have considerable court, or legal experience. Applicants should be highly organized, must be able to multi-task and possess significant knowledge, skills, and abilities in time management and performance management. Must be a team player who is willing to assist others as needed and who promotes a positive environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and advanced knowledge of office automation systems and computer software are required, especially Word and EXCEL. Experience handling money preferred. Applicant must deliver a high degree of customer service by providing information in person, by phone, and resolving problems. A passable typing test score of 40 wpm is required at the time of interview. Applicants must be able to lift 25 pounds. The salary for this position is non-negotiable.
