Job Description

The Deputy Clerk (Grade 7) is responsible for filing high volume court documents/cases, answering phones, file, copying, data entry, receipting, expungements and providing assistance at the Counter. Ensures court’s instructions are executed and that legal papers and court receipts are prepared with accuracy and in accordance with approved policies and procedures. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and stand/bend for extended periods at a time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

— Enters case information in JCMS

— Assists clients at the public counter

— File cases

— Prepares and proofs court papers and documents

— Responds to public inquiries for information by phone or in person

— Answers telephones, sorts mail, photocopies, and files

— Receipts payments and prepares deposit

— Serves as back-up to others in the office

— Assumes additional responsibilities on a temporary basis other than those primarily assigned to the position as required by management.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Most competitive applicants will have knowledge of the court system or similar job functions, will demonstrate knowledge in areas of responsibility, and be experienced in records management systems and dealing with a high volume office. Software applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook. Must be a team player. Must have excellent customer service skills and experience with money handling. Knowledge may be demonstrated with a combination of education and substantial experience in similar responsibilities. Bi-lingual preferred.
