Job Description

The Deputy Clerk (Grade 8) is assigned operational responsibilities in a fast paced, high volume office with multi-tasking and frequent deadlines. Ensures court’s instructions are executed and legal documents are prepared with accuracy and in accordance with the state and local policies and procedures. Must be committed to responding to customers with a friendly, courteous and positive can-do attitude and a desire to work in a team environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include handling a wide range of complex clerical and financial tasks to include: assessing fines & court costs accurately, accept and receipt payments, process court documents, scanning all case documents, large volume of accurate data entry and alpha/numeric filing, answering the telephone and taking payments over the phone. Experienced with Microsoft applications, Windows 7 and Office 2010 a plus. Must be able to multitask and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management. Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Successful applicants will have considerable court, business or office related experience. Applicants should be highly organized and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Advanced knowledge of office automation systems and computer software required. Excellent customer service skills and retail cash handling experience preferred. Please state typing/data entry speed on your application; minimum of 45 WPM typing required and a data entry test will be given on the day of the interview, please be prepared for this test. This position could require long periods of standing at the public counter or filing for periods up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to bend and lift to retrieve files.
